Welcome to my online portfolio! I invite you to review all the sections of my website to learn more about me, my skills and experiences gained while working in colleges and universities across the United States. This process to compile my learning and philosophies started in graduate school at St. Cloud State University (SCSU) in Minnesota. As you explore more, you will see that some samples are from 2016 all the way to today.
Currently, I work at the University of Maryland as a Program Manager for the Honors Global Communities. Previous to UMD, I was at New York University as the leader of the Building Leadership Team (BLT) for the Residential College (Residential Life and Housing Services). As part of the BLT, which includes the Residence Hall Assistant Director, Residence Hall Resource Manager, and me, we led the charge of student and community development in a first-year residential community of over 650 residents at NYU. As the Residence Hall Director, I supervised between 2-3 full-time professional staff members, indirect supervised 14+ paraprofessionals, and oversaw resident's learning, growth, and success at NYU. I was also responsible for the building's budget, student conduct, crisis intervention, and diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and accessibility (DEIBA) education. One really cool thing I got to do at NYU was to open the Residence Hall at the Paulson Center.
Additionally, I worked with NYU Professors - Professor Carley Moore, Professor Heidi White, Professor Michael Michael Shenefelt, and Professor Suzanne Cope - to foster habits of curiosity and involvement in educational, cultural and service activities beyond the formal confines of the classroom.
I hold two master's degrees. One from New York University in Politics and another one from St. Cloud State in Higher Education Administration. As a former graduate student in the Higher Education Administration program at SCSU, I had the opportunity to learn several student development theories, critical issues in Higher Education, research methods, and an overview of human resources management, finance, and community-university communications. During the completion of my master's degree, I worked as a graduate assistant for Resident Academic Success in the Department of Residential Life at SCSU. In this capacity, I was the co-chair for the Special Events and Service Learning Committee, participated in search committees for Hall Directors, and collaborated with several internal and external campus partners, including Department of Campus Involvement (DCI), University Program Board (UPB), Residence Hall Association (RHA), and Sodexo. I was also the advisor for the RHA Social Justice Committee, where we hosted events that addressed LGBT issues (i.e. The Closet Project), hunger (i.e. Oxfam Hunger Banquet), racism, and body image.
This education journey fueled my passion for student success and provided me with possibilities to learn more about the student experience and how administrators can positively impact college students. This electronic portfolio started as a project for my master's program and morphed into my personal website.
